METALITH: Rapid-Deployable Blast Structures

Blast mitigation protection is focused on countering a vehicular bomb threat, like a Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), which has been a major source of structural damage in past international incidents. While the threat may have a low probability, the consequences are high. The two most effective ways to mitigate the effects of an explosive blast are protective barriers and maintaining a standoff distance from a perceived threat.

Our METALITH rapid-deploy blast structures:

  • Offer 90%+ attenuation of a high order detonation at a 20-foot standoff distance, offering significant critical infrastructure and personnel protection
  • Provide up to 99% attenuation of a high order detonation for more distant standoff distances
  • Offer blast mitigation protection from the extreme end of the Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) threat, providing needed protection from lower order detonations
  • Deflect overpressure blast waves, safeguarding critical infrastructure assets
  • Absorb the effects of a high order detonation while providing significant physical protection from the direct and indirect blast effects
  • Yield minimal to no ballast material displacement, even from nearby blasts that cause significant structural damage

METALITH barriers were designed and engineered with the understanding that they may have to be shipped rapidly, and by differing means of transport, so our knocked-down METALITH panels can ship by flatbed truck, railcar, ocean container, or air cargo – making them easy to transport anywhere. METALITH blast barriers and crash barriers are easily installed on-site requiring minimal installation training, and no tools, instructions, or hardware other than what is shipped with each complete system kit.
